(Friday, May 1, 2020) Current EMS Principal Chuck Ryan has been named the new principal at Community High School. Mr. Ryan will take over the position vacated by Mr. Michael Westfall who was named the district’s director of student services last month.
Mr. Ryan has been an administrator at Edge Middle School since 2018. He served as the Dean of Students in 2018-19 and was named Principal at EMS for the 2019-20 school year. Prior to his time at EMS, Mr. Ryan served as social studies teacher and head girls basketball coach at Community High School since 2016.
Mr. Ryan began his education career in Oklahoma where he spent eleven years coaching and teaching at the middle school, junior high, and high school level. Mr. Ryan earned his Masters in Education Administration from Texas A&M University in Commerce and holds a Bachelors in Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
Mr. Ryan is married to his wife Jackie, also an educator and coach. They have two daughters, Andrea (13) and Kimmie (10.) Andrea will be an eighth-grader at Edge and Kimmie will be a fifth-grader at McClendon Elementary next year.
"CISD has been a blessing to my family,” said Mr. Ryan. “We are so proud to be Braves and I am very excited about this new opportunity. I will miss Edge and all of the wonderful people who work there,” said Ryan. He added that he is looking forward to the opportunity to open the new high school campus, “I am honored and humbled to be joining the CHS team at such a monumental moment in our district’s history. Community High School has an amazing staff and I am so excited to move into our amazing new building and start this new chapter for the Brave Nation."
