New Administrators for 2019-20
At the regular board meeting on Monday, May 20, 2019, the CISD Board of Trustees welcomed three new administrators to the Brave Nation and named two current CISD administrators to new positions in the district for the 2019-20 school year:
The Board congratulated current NeSmith Elementary Principal Julie Meek on her new position as Director of Special and Federal Programs. Mrs. Meek has served as the principal at NeSmith since 2007. She began her career as a special education teacher in 1994 with Mansfield ISD and has been a campus administrator since 2001. Mrs. Meek earned her Master of Education in Educational Administration degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.
The board approved Stacey Kluttz as Principal at NeSmith Elementary. Ms. Kluttz comes to the Brave Nation from Greenville ISD where she served as principal at the A-rated Katherine G. Johnson STEM Academy. Under her leadership the campus was the first in GISD history to earn all 6 possible distinctions from the Texas Education Agency in 2018. Ms. Kluttz is a former Royse City ISD District Teacher of the Year and brings over 14 years of experience in public education. She holds a Master in Education Administration degree from Lamar University.
The Board approved the appointment of Chuck Ryan as the new Principal at EMS. Mr. Ryan has over 13 years experience as a teacher, coach and administrator in secondary schools in both Oklahoma and Texas. He joined the Brave Nation in 2016 as a social studies teacher and head girls basketball coach at CHS. He served as the assistant principal for Edge Middle School during the 2018-19 school year. Mr. Ryan holds a Master of Education in Educational Administration degree from Texas A&M University Commerce.
The Board approved Melanie Cottongame as the new Assistant Principal at McClendon Elementary. Mrs. Cottongame is currently serving in Princeton ISD as the Elementary Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) Coordinator and previously was a bilingual Pre-K teacher at Lacy Elementary. She began her career in public education in 2007 having served as a bilingual teacher in both Farmersville ISD and Irving ISD. Mrs. Cottongame holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin University.
Cody Cox was named the new Director of Maintenance and Transportation. Mr. Cox comes to the Brave Nation from Bellville ISD where he is currently serving as the Director of Transportation. He has over a decade of experience in public school transportation and operations in the central Texas area.
