Superintendent's Scholars

The Superintendent’s Scholar is an honor awarded by the CHS College and Career Readiness Department as part of a new Braves Scholar initiative. In order to be named as a Superintendent’s Scholar, students must complete a rigorous series of requirements throughout their senior year including: maintaining a digital portfolio, completing multiple college and scholarship applications, documenting at least 25 community service hours, and maintaining a cumulative weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher. These Braves also presented their capstone portfolio to a panel of CISD Administrators before being named Superintendent’s Scholars.

The Superintendent's Scholars will be featured in social media posts leading up to Community High School's commencement ceremony on May 30, 2019, where they will wear a special medallion as part of their graduation regalia. Congratulations to the 2019 Community High School Superintendent's Scholars:

Arzate
Madison is a member of the Mighty Braves Band and Lady Braves Soccer team. She will be attending the University of North Texas and plans to major in kinesiology. 

Bardin
Ashley plans to become a labor and delivery nurse and wants to write a novel some day. She will be attending Texas A&M University - Commerce in the fall and has already been accepted into the University of Oklahoma for the spring of 2020.

Chantaca
Priscilla is a proud member of the Mighty Braves Band and Color Guard. She will be a first generation high school graduate and will attend Collin College this fall. 

Crabtree
Emma is accomplished in cosmetology and talented in nail art design. She enjoys photography and traveling, she’s been to Greece, Italy, Switzerland, England, and France just to name a few. She will travel to Tyler Junior College in the fall where she plans to earn a degree in social work. 

Edwards
Zech was Captain of the 2019 Regional Semi-finalist Braves Soccer team. He was also a regional qualifier in golf, a member of the football team, FFA, FCCLA, Yearbook and FCA.  Zech will be
attending Texas Tech University where he has been accepted into the Rawls Business College. He plans to major in Business Accounting and prepare for law school. 

Gonzalez
Selena has attended Community ISD since Pre-K and is the Valedictorian for the Class of 2019. Selena served as drum major for the Might Braves Band and was a member of Student Council, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Book Club and FCCLA. She will be attending Texas A&M University to major in Biomedical Sciences. 

 

Hager
Macie has attended CISD since Kindergarten. She lettered 4 years & was a repeat Area Qualifier in the High Jump for the Lady Braves track team. She'll be attending Blinn College in the fall & plans to study Biology. 

Dunn
Laney is the
President of the National Honor Society, Senior Class Representative for student council, and a member of FCCLA. She also is a member of the varsity cheerleading squad, the 2019 district champions girls soccer team, and CHS golf team. She will be attending UT Tyler in the fall with the CAP program and plans to transfer to UT Austin. Laney would like to pursue a career as a physical therapist. 

Hayes
Tori has been an active member of FFA since middle school and joined FCCLA her senior year. She will begin her path to becoming a certified agriculture teacher this fall at Collin College. 

Johnson
Kansas has been an active member of the NHS, SNHS, Book Club and the tennis team while at CHS. She has received over $200,000 in scholarship offers and plans to attend the University of Texas at Dallas where she will major in International Political Studies and minor in Spanish. Kansas’ career goal is to become a lawyer specializing in immigration, contract and corporate law. 

 

Lopez
Katherine has been an active member of the SNHS, the Braves Robotic Club, Book Club, Color Guard, and the Mighty Braves Band. Her interests include politics, language, culture, and music. Katherine will be attending Stephen F. Austin State University this fall. 

Medders
Brooke is a member of the CHS  golf team and a student athletic trainer. After graduation Brooke plans to attend Collin College where she will begin studying to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. 

Oneal
Lauren plays the flute for the Mighty Braves band and has served as a section leader. She has also been a member of the SNHS, FCCLA and the Ludarian Society; and participated in UIL events. Lauren plans to attend Collin College after graduation and wants to become a photographer.

Perry
Hannah was a member of FCCLA for two years and athletics for three years. As a Lady Brave she earned her varsity letter in both track and golf; and was also a member of the softball, basketball and cheer teams. After graduation Hannah plans on attending Collin College in hopes to become a Dental Hygienist. 

Pope
Sarah has been a member of the Dazzlin’ Dames Drill team, Glee Club, softball team, the NHS and is the local Vice President for FCCLA. She is excited to be attending Texas State University in the fall to continue her education because she has had her heart set on it since her freshman year. 

Recinos
Dallanne has been a member of the NHS, Book Club, Vice President of SNHS and Section Leader for the Mighty Braves Band. After graduation Dallanne plans to attend Texas A&M University - Commerce to study Biological Sciences Pre-Med in hopes of becoming a doctor one day.

Rivas
Chalee is currently involved in NHS, National Society of High School Scholars, FCCLA, varsity volleyball and softball, and during her junior year she was in the Ready Set Teach program. After high school Chalee will be attending Trinity Valley Community College to continue her education to study education and to play volleyball.

Salinas
Jazmine has been involved in Yearbook, Book Club, SNHS, Symphonic Band, Color Guard, and Winter Guard. She has been accepted to the University of Texas at El Paso to continue her education. 

Simpson
Anna has been a member of the FCCLA, SNHS, SADD and participated in UIL events. She has been accepted to five universities, but plans on attending Texas A&M University - Commerce through the Regents Scholar Program to earn a Master’s Degree in Medical Social Work.

Stiff
Shawanna has been an active member of the CHS Theatre Arts program, and Color Guard. After graduation, she will be attending Navarro College to study Theatre and Special Effects. 

Turek
Veronica has been involved in the Mighty Braves Band, NJHS, FCCLA, Bass Club, and Student Council. She has also been a mulit-sport athlete participating in volleyball, basketball, soccer, and track. Veronica was also a student athletic trainer for the Braves. During her time at CHS she had the honor of being selected as Lacone Jo, the school mascot, for two years. After graduation, Veronica will be attending Tarleton State University to major in athletic training.
