For the first time, students in the Family and Community Services class have partnered with EMS to create the Braves Buddy Mentor Program.
After seeing a need for her students to engage in more project-based learning, Mrs. Blair Young, CHS Family and Consumer Sciences teacher, collaborated with EMS Counselor, Mrs. Tiffany Goff, and CHS Lead Counselor, Mrs. Chiquita Wilburn, to identify middle school students who would benefit from social and academic mentorship.
The overall goals of the program are to help struggling students achieive success in the classroom, thus fostering academic and social confidence.
So far, the response has been tremendous, and both mentors, and mentees, look forward to this mentor time every week.
Next semester, the Braves Buddy Mentor Program will be expanding to McClendon Elementary School! We look forward to the continued success of the program and the student success that results because of it!
