Classroom Spotlight - GT

On November 23rd, the CHS Freshman Gifted and Talented (GT) class traveled to Dallas to see Encore!!, a performance of short stories adapted for the stage. These stories included The RavenThe Tell Tale Heart,  The Legend of Sleepy HollowThe Monkey's Paw, The Necklace, and The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County. The show also featured a wide variety of costumes, set design, and production techniques.
Upon returning to campus, students discussed each performance and decided one of their favorites was The Necklace, a story they had previously studied in English class.
The overarching theme for the GT class this year is Citizenship. The students determined that participation in the theater (audience member, performer, etc.) fulfills the requirements of being a "good citizen" because, if done correctly, everyone involved becomes a part of something bigger than themselves.
Thank you to Ms. Willis for providing a wonderful out-of-the-classroom experience for these students! We look forward to the continuous growth and promotion of the Gifted and Talented program on our campus and the incredible achievements of these students!
