Emma Winford Signs Volleyball Scholarship with Lincoln Memorial University
Community High School senior, Emma Winford, signed her scholarship with Lincoln Memorial University (TN) to continue her volleyball and academic career on Wednesday, November, 14, 2018 in the Community ISD Athletic Facility.
Emma is the daughter of Ronny and Elizabeth Winford, she has two siblings Zoe an 8th grader at EMS, and Jack a Freshman at CHS. She has attended Community ISD since kindergarten and currently holds an outstanding GPA of 4.28. She scored a 21 on the ACT. She is known all across CHS for her responsibility on and off the court.
Emma has lettered and started on the Lady Braves volleyball team all four years and was named the newcomer of the year during her freshman year. During her sophomore season, Emma led her team as captain and was named 2016 All National Qualifier, All District First Team, Academic All District, Skyline 16 MVP of the year, and Community High School MVP of the year. Her junior year Emma played in the 17 Golden Chick Classic and was named player of the tournament. She was also named 2017 District Offensive Player of the year, Academic All District, First Team All District, and All State Player. Emma was named District 13-4A Most Valuable Player at the conclusion of her senior season.
When Emma was asked why she chose to continue her volleyball and education career at Lincoln Memorial University (TN) she said, “the campus is so beautiful, very diverse, good volleyball team, very nice girls, great coaching staff, and it just felt right.” She is excited to experience college and study Physical Therapy or Health Science.
