SCHOOL BOARD
The seven member Board of Trustees is the School District’s policy making body and the official representative of the community. The Board of Trustees’ goal is to ensure quality educational opportunities for all students in the district. The Board functions according to state and federal laws, regulations of the State Board of Education, the Texas Education Agency, and the will of the people as expressed in elections. The Board of Trustees, while composed of individuals, acts officially as one body. No member or group of members acts in the name of the Board of Trustees except when authorized by the board to do so.
Meetings are on the third Monday of each month at 7 pm at the CISD Conference and Technology Center.

2026 School Board Election - Saturday, May 2, 2026
The 2026 Community ISD Board of Trustees election features four school board seats on the ballot: Places 1, 4, 5, and 6. The filing period for this election is from January 14, 2026 through February 13, 2026. If you have questions about the election, please contact Jennifer Puffer at 972-843-6090.
Candidate packets for those wishing to apply as a candidate for the next school board election may be obtained, beginning in January of scheduled election years, from the Terry Pope Administration Building at 611 FM 1138 N, Nevada, Texas, 75173. They will be available until the filing deadline in February of that year.
Early voting opens on Monday, April 20, and closes on Tuesday, April 28. Election Day is Saturday, May 2. Collin County voters can cast their ballots anywhere in that county, while our Hunt County voters will need to check their registration for polling locations.

CISD Board of Trustees Regular Monthly Meetings
The CISD Board of Trustees meets once a month on Monday for a regularly scheduled, public meeting.
Public comments open each meeting at 6 pm, followed immediately by a closed session. The open session begins at 7 pm.
