David Stanfield

Dr. David Stanfield was born on January 7, 1948 in McKinney, Texas. He attended school in Community Rural School District (CRSD) from 1st through 12th grade, graduating from Community Rural High School in 1966. In high school Dr. Stanfield played on varsity for four seasons with the Braves racking up 29 wins and a Bi-District championship in his senior season. He also excelled in basketball, lettering for four seasons. His teams won the District championship three times and once were regional finalists. He played baseball three years and also competed in track.

Upon graduating from Community in 1966, Dr. Stanfield attended Navarro College, receiving his Associate's in 1968. He went on to earn his Bachelor's (1970), Master's (1972), and Doctorate (1977) from East Texas State University (now Texas A&M-Commerce).

While completing his studies at A&M-Commerce, Dr. Stanfield taught for one year in Greenville ISD, then returned to Brave Nation in 1970. He taught in Community ISD from 1970 to 1974, and then became a principal in Crandall ISD. He served as an elementary principal in Wallias-Orchard ISD from 1976-79, and became Superintendent of Coppell ISD in 1980. He served in that role until 1989, then served in 1989 and 1990 as an assistant superintendent and interim superintendent in Victoria ISD. His final stop in K-12 education came in 1991 when he became an assistant superintendent of Plainfield Community Consolidated School District in Plainfield, Illinois. He became Superintendent of Plainfield two years later, and retired from Plainfield in 2002.

After retirement, Dr. Stanfield returned to Texas, becoming an assistant professor for Texas A&M-Commerce. He served there until August 2013, when he retired once again. He also was an adjunct professor at Stephen F. Austin State University in 2005 and 2006.

Dr. Stanfield also served on the CISD Board of Trustees, and his son, Marc Stanfield, has been on the CISD Board since May 2015.
