Ms. NaTosha Harris

On January 24, 2022, the Board of Trustees for Community Independent School District unanimously approved the hiring of Ms. NaTosha Harris as the Director of Student Services. Ms. Harris entered her role on February 15, 2022.

Ms. Harris is a 22-year veteran of education with experience as a teacher, literacy coach, Head Start Manager, Head Start Director, Associate Principal, and Principal. She comes to Brave Nation from Milwaukee, Wis., where she spent the last seven years as a Principal. She was named a Principal of the Month in 2018, and was a presenter at the 2018 and 2019 State Education Convention for Building the Heart of Successful Schools conference.

Before becoming a principal in Milwaukee, Ms. Harris spent two years in the Racine Unified School District, first as an associate principal and then as the Director of School Climate and Student Support. In Racine USD, Ms. Harris was named the 2014 Hero for Health.

Ms. Harris spent her first 13 years in education in Milwaukee. She started as a middle school English teacher in 1999, then moved to a Literacy Coaching position in 2006. She served as an Interim Health, Mental Health, and Disabilities Manager in 2008, and became a Head Start ERSEA Manager in 2009. Her final year in her first stint in Milwaukee was spent as an Interim Head Start Program Coordinator. In her first 13 years in Milwaukee, Ms. Harris was a 2007 Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Black School Educators (MMABSE) Teacher of the Year, served on the Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) District Reading Assessment Writing Team, and was a Professional Development Facilitator for Building Background Knowledge for Academic Vocabulary.

Ms. Harris received her Bachelors of Psychology and her Bachelors of Business & Management from Alverno College in 1995, and earned her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from National Louis University in 2009. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education Leadership and Management from William Howard Taft University. Ms. Harris holds Principal, Director of Special Education, Director of Instruction, and Professional Educator certifications in Wisconsin, Education Leadership II certification in Georgia, and Principal certification in Texas.

Ms. Harris is engaged to Timothy Lee, and has two adult children, Amber and Abrieah, and a granddaughter, Myrical, with a grandson on the way. Mr. Lee has two adult children, Jazzinique and Treasure, and one child in high school, Legend.
