    The GT Showcase - Next Tuesday, February 26th from 6:00 - 7:30 PM. Join us as our Brave Nation GT students in 1st through 12th grade demonstrate their passion projects and learning experiences at the annual GT Showcase!

    Try-out packets for the 2019-2020 Dazzlin' Darlings dance team are in the front office. We will have a mandatory parent/candidate meeting on Thursday, 3/7 @ 5:00 in the EMS cafe.

    Next Monday is the first Track Meet for EMS @ Sunnyvale starting @ 4 PM.

    Friday is a district teacher work day and there will be no school for students on February, 22nd.

    Progress Reports will go home tomorrow.

    Parents: With cold and flu season upon us, absences are on the rise.   When your child is absent, please make sure your student knows to get get all of  his/her missing work from each of his/her teachers.
     
    Attendance Fact: Over 7 million (1 in 7) U.S. students miss nearly a month of school each year!
     
    “National Love the Bus Month” is February! We will celebrate the week of the 11th-15th. More details to come. 
     
    Tuesday, February 5th will be the Winter Carnival at EMS. See attached for details.

    January is School Board Recognition Month and EMS would like to thank our Board of Trustees for their dedication to our schools and community.
     
    Attendance Fact: Poor attendance can influence whether children read proficiently or be held back.
     
    This Friday, January 25th, is the Student Council "Winter Neon Ball" Dance from 6-8 PM. The cost is $5. Be sure to bring extra money for food, drinks, pictures and face paint.

    January is School Board Recognition Month and EMS would like to thank our Board of Trustees for their dedication to our schools and community.
     
    Attendance Fact: By 8th grade, chronic absence becomes a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school.
     
    This Friday, January 18th, is a staff development day for teachers and there will be no school for students
     
    Also, Monday, January 21st, is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and a district holiday. Enjoy the 4 day weekend! 

    1/7 - 1/11

    The UIL Academic Award Ceremony will be held on next Monday, January 14th at 6 PM in the EMS Cafeteria. 

    Reminder! Friday is our campus spelling bee!! Parents are welcome to attend! (See Attached)

The money earned is used to purchase reading incentives, sponsor the Family Winter Carnival, and much more. There is a brown box in the library to drop off your box tops.     EMS ACADEMIC GOLD DAY is Friday, November 2nd!

    Each nine-weeks PTO sponsors a 2-hour event to honor students maintaining an 80 or above average, no unexcused absences, and no office discipline referrals will be eligible attend Academic Gold Day.

    Students will have the opportunity to watch a movie, play sports and/or other games on the blacktop outside (weather permitting). Academic Gold Day will be Friday, November 2nd 2:00-3:45 pm.

    Parent volunteers are needed to help monitor the different stations for students. Please sign-up and support our kids' hard work!

    The Student Council is having a sock drive where we collect new packages of socks for a local homeless shelter in preparation for the winter months. SOCKTOBER runs the duration of October. Boxes are in the cafeteria and the winning grade level will get a big prize.

    Also, the Outdoor Choir Concert, originally scheduled on the 18th, has been moved to this Friday, October 26th at 6 PM. Bring your lawn chairs and a few dollars and enjoy popcorn, soft drinks, and great music on the north side of Edge by the band hall.
     
    7th and 8th Grade girls basketball tryouts begin tomorrow morning at the Athletic Facility beginning at 6:45 AM. 
     
    Monday, October 29th, is staff development and there is no school for students.

    The Choir Concert, originally scheduled on the 18th, has been moved to Friday, October 26th at 6 PM.

    The Student Council is having a sock drive where we collect new packages of socks for a local homeless shelter in preparation for the winter months. SOCKTOBER started this Monday and runs the duration of October. Boxes are in the cafeteria and the winning grade level will get a big prize.

    Here is some important information going on this week at Edge.

    Edge PTO will have a Parent Volunteer Meeting on Thursday, October 11th at 9 am.  We would love for you to join us and get involved in upcoming EMS Events!

    6th graders received a paper at lunch today about Chromebook roll-out. The information has to with the $30 usage fee for all 6th graders which will cover the device in the middle school and they won't have to pay again until high school. The $30 will count towards the total repair costs in the event major damage occurs. Please contact Mr. Ryan with any questions. See paper for more details and return to cafeteria. The money will be collected during lunches.

    EMS Volleyball-The volleyball teams play tonight at Princeton Clark starting at 5:00 with A teams playing first and B teams to follow.
     
    EMS Football- Both 7th and 8th grade teams play at home against Aubrey starting at 5:00 PM on Thursday.
