Mrs. Renda Songer
I am thrilled to begin my first year in Community ISD as the College & Career Readiness Advisor. It is an exciting time for "Brave Nation" with the construction of a new high school beginning.
I've been attending school for one thing or another for most of my life. After high school, I trained to be a nail tech! First I obtained a manicuring license, followed by a cosmetology operator license, and then a cosmetology instructor license. This led to my start in education as a High School Career and Technical Education Teacher. I absolutely loved my time in the classroom with students. During this time, I returned to school first at Navarro College, followed by completing a B.S. in Business Management at Tarleton State University. While being a teacher provided me with an opportunity to share in the success of students as they continue their postsecondary education or begin their career, it also allowed me to explore the importance of college and career readiness in public schools. I returned to school (AGAIN) and completed a Master of Public Administration at Tarleton State University. Currently, I am attending Lamar University and plan to finish a principal certification this year.
I passionately feel that all students deserve a chance to explore their "calling". Connecting career interests to academic excellence, and a desire for future success helps provide the motivation students need to reach education and career goals. Additionally, I believe that the number one key to success is asking ones' self how you can serve others. I am so excited for the privilege of working with parents, students, and the entire community surrounding Community ISD.
Please, know that my door is always open to assist you with any questions or concerns. I sincerely hope you will stop in for a cup of coffee or just to say "Hi" at the College & Career Readiness Center located in Community High School.
