This organization serves to promote the art of dance, promote school and community involvement, build character above reproach, encourage physical fitness, and encourage student responsibility and independence in following expectations. The Dazzlin’ Dames are a precision dance/drill team. Our performances take place at Pep Rallies, Football and Basketball games, parades, Drill Team contests, and a Spring Show at end of every year. We also have many opportunities to travel, receive scholarships, and attend college auditions.
As a dancer, not only are we learning technical skills such as, leaps, turns, and high kicks, we also learn many life lessons Through dance. several Skills gained through dance include punctuality, politeness, teamwork, leadership, independence, problem solving, and multitasking skills. We also learn how to perform different genres of dance that include military, pom, modern, lyrical, traditional high kick, hip hop, and jazz. We also gain school spirit and friendships that will last us a lifetime.
Competition and Travel Opportunities
In the past, we’ve been lucky enough to travel to different places to help with our current and future dance careers. For the 2018-2019 school year, we competed at Celina High School and competed in a Danceline USA competiton. We placed 1st in the Small Team Division in the Jazz Catergory. We also traveled to San Antonio to compete in a regional dance contest with MA Dance. We placed 1st overall in the Small Team Division.
Some of our members have gone to Houston, TX for National Collegiate Dance Auditions and to Tyler, TX to rehearse and learn from the world famous, Apache Belles. We have also traveled to Kilgore Community College and Trinity Valley Community College to witness some of the best collegiate Drill Teams perform. Which include the Rangerettes and the Cardettes. We have also performed at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington.
