Doug Schmidt

Hello Braves Nation!!  My name is Doug Schmidt and I am coming to Edge Middle School with 28 years of experience as a teacher and coach.  I've been in Katy ISD, Nederland ISD, Mesquite ISD, and Garland ISD and have never been so excited to be a part of a team as I am to be a part of the Community ISD team!  I will be teaching 8th grade U.S. History and will be serving as the Department Chair for Social Studies.  Helping students understand that circumstances do not define them, and helping them become productive people in society is my passion, we just learn how to be those things while we learn the history of the greatest country in the world at the same time!

I live in Caddo Mills with the love of my life, Dana, and our dog.  We like to go on vacation and finding new places that serve great food!!  I have three grown kids and two grandkids.  I am a rabid Dallas Cowboys fan, and a sports fan in general.  I am also a professional musician and have had the opportunity to play a lot of music in a lot of places.  My favorite movie is The Outlaw Josey Wales, and I like to read leadership books and historical biographies.

My conference period will be during 1st period and the best way to reach me is through email.

I look forward to meeting each of you, and for those of you who end up in my class....get ready for a great year!!
