Mrs. Savannah Rubio

Howdy!

I am Savannah Rubio! I am the lead counselor for Edge Middle School. This will be my second year at Edge and in Community ISD.

A little bit of my educational background is that I have my Masters in School Counseling from Amberton University and I also have my Bachelors of Science in Agricultural Sciences from Texas A&M University. This is my first year as a counselor as I have been teaching Ag science (as well as the FFA advisor) in Plano ISD for 7 years prior to making my way to become a Brave.

A little about me personally is that I love animals, especially cats, I love to go hiking and camping, my favorite colors are anything in earthy tones, and I love doing art (painting and drawing). I am married to my wonderful husband Gabe Rubio who served in the Air Force and currently works for Raytheon. Together we have two wonderful fur babies (cats) Griffyn and Loki.

I have always wanted to be a school counselor since I was in middle school myself. As a military kid I moved around quite often and it was always the counselors that had the biggest impact on me to help me transition and be there for me when I struggled. I wanted to be able to be that for kids who are going through tough times like I did or struggling and need that support. I knew I had to teach for awhile before becoming a counselor and knew once I got to Texas I was going to teach Ag. I was able to teach about animals that I love and share that joy with students, but I was also still able to help and assist students as the FFA advisor. I will also try my best to be there for every student that I can and get them the resources and assistance that they need to grow into successful adults.
