Mrs. Marcia Coker

Marcia Coker was named the Director of Facilities for Community Independent School District on May 3, 2021. She brings over 24 years of experience to the role.

Before coming to Brave Nation, Mrs. Coker worked in Wylie ISD for 23 years, including serving the last six years as the Facilities Manager for the school district. In her role as Facilities Manager, Mrs. Coker was responsible for the supervision of maintenance and facilities staff, facilitating ongoing work orders, managing construction projects, and addressing Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) issues. She also inventoried and maintained surplus furniture, vehicles, and equipment for the district, and was the author of the district's Master Energy Management Plan that highlights the conservation energy measures put in place and the net savings to the district. Mrs. Coker's energy conservation program has reduced Wylie ISD's cost per square foot by 20% since 2015.

Mrs. Coker has been recognized several times in her time as the Wylie ISD Facilities Manager including becoming the first recipient of the Master in Energy Management from the Texas Energy Managers Association (TEMA), winning the 2019 Energy Project of the Year from TEMA, earning a 2019 Honorable Mention Educational Leadership Award from the State of Texas Alliance for Recycling (STAR), earning a 2018 Excellence Award for Campus Emergency Preparedness from the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), and serving as the President of the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of TEMA in 2019-2020.

She is a Registered Texas School Board Administrator (RTSBA) with the Texas Association of School Business Operators (TASBO), and is certified in Building Automation Systems (BAS), Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Incident Command Training, and as a School Safety Trainer in Standard Response Protocol.

Before stepping into the role of Facilities Manager, Mrs. Coker served with Wylie ISD as the Community Relations Coordinator from 2010-2015 and as a Communications Specialist from 2006-2010. She began her Wylie ISD career as the Community Education Coordinator in 1998, a role she served in through 2006.

Mrs. Coker is a graduate of the University of Kansas. She and her husband, Larry, are the proud parents of two children and grandparents of four.
