Remote Conferencing
Remote conferencing provides students an opportunity to access instructional continuity during a temporary absence period. This mode of instruction is available upon eligibility for up to 20 days over the entirety of a school year. Students are eligible for this instructional method if they:
- have a temporary medical condition documented by a physician that notes that a student must remain confined to their home or hospital, OR
- have tested positive for a communicable condition, such as COVID-19, OR
- have been identified as having been in close contact with COVID-19.
Students who are out due to illness are not required to participate in Remote Conferencing. It is optional. However, students that do not participate in remote conferencing will be counted absent.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Can my child participate in this learning experience if they do not meet one of the criteria?
No. TEA and the Student Attendance Accountability Handbook requires that the student meet the criteria.
-
What if I sign my child up for Remote Conferencing and they become too ill to participate?
Your child’s health is a top priority. If they are unable to participate, please let them rest. They will be counted absent, but we can get them caught up when they return to campus.
-
I don’t have Internet access at home. Am I allowed to sign my child up for Remote Conferencing?
Yes, we can provide your family with a hotspot during their remote conferencing period.
-
If I have questions during Remote Conferencing, who can I contact?
You may contact your child's online facilitator or your campus principal.
-
Does Remote Conferencing look like the virtual instruction in 2020-21?
No, your child will receive their assignments from their teacher(s) of record, but they will not be interacting with them during that time. Instead, a certified online facilitator will work with your child to provide individualized assistance, as they work through their assignments.
-
Can my child participate in Remote Conferencing longer than 20 days?
No. Students are limited to 20 days per school year, according to the handbook.
There are very limited instances that would allow a child to participate for longer periods of time, but they require a waiver to be filed.
