CODE Keeper of the Week - Megan Bearden - September 7-11

CODE Keeper of the Week for September 7-11: Megan Bearden

Nomination from Karla Torres, CHS Parent:

"Anytime teachers, parents, students, or anybody that comes into the building she always makes sure they go where they need to be, questions answered and always goes above and beyond for everyone. And if that is not enough she still volunteers for the school for any and all events which in my opinion shows how much drive and character she has!"

Excellence

Why are you nominating this person?

Mr Bawelkiewicz has demonstrated excellence in the previous 5 weeks as a debate coach and a freshman academy teacher.

He has learned nearly all the concepts of debate in such a short time, something that a student may take months or even years, allowing our debate program not only to continue, but thrive after our previous coach was no longer able to guide us. He has also taught freshman academy excellently, with his students learning at incredible paces and still mastering these concepts. He has worked incredibly hard and always has his students in mind.

Never have I doubted him as a teacher nor as a coach. This week he showed excellence through preparing his students for their first debate tournament and guiding his freshman to their future careers.

Ownership

Why are you nominating this person?

Connor has really buckled down on his academics this year as well as taking the time to help his friends who might be struggling with their work. If it’s helping a friend with spelling words or taking the time at home to study for a test, he has taken ownership of his future and we couldn’t be more proud.

Melanie Edwards

A smiling woman with long blonde hair, wearing blue clothing and blue earrings, is posed against a solid gray background.

Ownership

Why are you nominating this person?

I recently sent out a 10 minute video on phishing and how to identify a phishing email. Mrs. Edwards took it a step further and created a Google form "test" for her staff members to complete to verify they watched the video and that they understood the content. I see that as owning her campus and a drive to make her campus excellent!

Character

Why are you nominating this person?

Following the boys cross country race on Friday, September 4th, there was an older gentleman with a cane/walking stick who fell to the ground. The entire boys team immediately jumped into action and ran to help him get up. The man was ok and didn't need any help.

However, it was so awesome to see these young men rush to help and demonstrate what it means to be a Brave!

Character

Why are you nominating this person?

Mrs. McCray went above and beyond for one of my students. She noticed a need and came to me for the desire to help the student. She gathered all the necessary tools and products to bring joy to a child. They had a time of bonding while holding a hair salon session. The child was beaming ear to ear. I am so glad she has joined our NeSmith family and is already building our community up.

Ethan Alverado

Excellence

Why are you nominating this person?

Ethan has shown Character by the way he supports his peers and not reacting to negativity, Ownership for the few mistakes he makes, Drive from when he is presented with a new task and desires to learn it, and over all Excellence the way he treats everyone. For that Life skills class is appreciative of Ethan and want to nominate him for CODE.
