CODE Keeper of the Week for August 17-21: Oladipo Ariyibi
Nomination from Dr. Amber Hope, Principal of Community High School:
"Oladipo emailed me in early July introducing himself and asking to create a student-led SAT Preparation Club for CHS. I scheduled a meeting and he was eager to present his proposal to me. He reviewed campus data and included data tracking in his proposal (which I thought was genius) He launches the club this week and already has 25 students who have joined!
Here is a snippet of his plan:
Week A (Wednesday): A deep dive into a SAT Math subject/concept.(Goal for the end of the year would be to allow students to be fluent in Desmos Regression which is really helpful and can help solve 94+ percent of the SAT).
Week B (Wednesday): A targeted focus on one specific SAT Reading and Writing subject/concept.(My goal for the end of the year would be to help students master the structural mechanic.
I am so proud of his drive & ownership for CHS!"

Mr. McAlister is truly an amazing teacher. His character flows into all the aspects of his teaching. You can tell he truly cares for all of his students. He creates a safe environment for students to learn new things about theater. He also makes sure that every student is able to learn and understand things in the way that makes the most sense for them. His passion and joy is contagious and will make anyone excited to learn in his class! I am truly blessed to work alongside Mr. McAlister.

We just moved to the area from Las Vegas. My daughter hasn't just transitioned from pre-k to kindergarten, but also from another state. At 5 years old that is a lot of big changes in life. She no longer only goes to school only for a couple hours but a full day. She no longer sees her friends and family that she's known for years everyday but people that are in ways strangers.
Mrs. Streetman has welcomed my daughter with her heart exhibiting character. Everyday when I see my daughter after school I ask a couple questions. Your favorite thing about school, what was the worst part of the day, I ask what did you love about your teacher today and I also ask what didn't you like.
Every single day my daughter has said multiple positive things. Not once has she said anything negative. She knows it would stay between me and her, but every time I ask her, she says "I like everything about her." My daughter is valued and ready to learn because of Mrs. So. She has made her feel welcomed.

The McClendon Elementary Office Staff would like to recognize Jacob for being a true hero! Jacob took initiative and immediately sought help when he noticed a student experiencing a medical emergency in the restroom. Because of his bravery, quick thinking, and DRIVE to do what was right, we were able to respond quickly to the student’s medical needs and provide the necessary support. Jacob’s quick reaction and genuine concern for others made a tremendous difference. His courage and willingness to step up truly saved the day! Thank you, Jacob, for being a hero and showing us what it means to look out for others!

Nurse Bailey is our amazing school nurse here at McClendon, and we are so blessed to have her!
This week, the nurse’s office has been full of students, but Nurse Bailey has handled it all seamlessly and with such a positive, caring spirit. No matter how busy the day gets, she continues to make each student feel welcomed, cared for, and supported.
We are so thankful for the compassion, patience, and positivity she brings to McClendon each day. We truly appreciate everything she does for our students and staff. McClendon is incredibly blessed to have Nurse Bailey!

Mrs. Speed is new to our district this school year and serves as our 5th grade RLA teacher. We are so fortunate to have her at McClendon!
I had the opportunity to spend some time in her classroom this week, and I can confidently say that she exudes excellence. Even more impressive, she creates an environment where students are empowered to pursue excellence themselves. Her classroom ran seamlessly, with clear expectations and routines that allowed students to take ownership of their learning. Mrs. Speed has created a classroom where students have opportunities to lead, collaborate, and learn from one another. Her commitment to building student ownership and independence is evident in everything she does. I cannot wait to see all of the amazing things she accomplishes this school year. McClendon is truly blessed to have Mrs. Speed on our team!

Mrs. Chapeton demonstrated Drive today by stepping in with calm, compassionate support when a student was struggling. She noticed his discomfort, responded with genuine care, and made sure he received what he needed to feel okay again. Her determination and kindness turned a hard moment into a safe one for the student. Her purposeful response showed what Drive looks like: noticing a need, acting quickly, and centering the student’s well‑being. We are so thankful that Mrs. Chapeton is on our MES team!
