Braves of the Week - CHS Cosmetology Students & Staff - Dec. 8-12
Nomination from Ms. Candy Maldonado, CISD Police Department:
We are honored to nominate the CHS Cosmetology Students alongside their teacher Mrs. Songer for willingly & passionately taking the task in providing spa services to the whole Admin Building on our Day 2 of 12 days of Christmas sponsored by Mr. Ladd, Chief Morrison & the Police Dept.
These talented young ladies have bright futures ahead of them. We felt the passion they have for the art by their interaction & creative talent in manicuring, providing therapeutic paraffin service & relaxing neck/shoulder chair massages, which were a top hit of the day.
We heard their stories & their future plans with the skills they are acquiring. We are excited to learn where this awesome program leads them & how successful they will become. I personally want to thank not only all the talented young ladies but mostly Mrs. Songer. Speaking with her about her dedication to guiding these young ladies by reflecting all our Brave Traits. Ms. Lloyd stepped into a challenging mid-year teaching role last year, and she has been going non-stop to make sure her students are given every opportunity to learn and excel! Her commitment to her alma mater has been admirable as she steps in and works in a role that requires many hours outside of the regular school day, taking kids to competitions, and encouraging her students daily! She does a great job day in and day out, and her commitment is an example for all!

I'd like to nominate Coach Kirbie and the entire CHS basketball coaching staff! This weekend I was at the boys JV/Freshman tournament both as a spectator and a volunteer, and the tournament went so well. Juggling the logistics of so many teams from different schools with games at four different gyms was no easy feat. Coach Kirbie and all the coaches made sure games ran smoothly while also ensuring student athletes, coaches, parents, refs and volunteers were well taken care of. Our coaches are passionate about the game and set a great example for our Braves!

Antonio displayed the trait of being generous in a very thoughtful way. He spent his personal time during Thanksgiving break to draw each of his classmates a picture, seal it in an envelope, and write each of their initials on the envelope. He delivered them to each student during our morning meeting. We took time to color them which brought joy and smiles to the whole class.

We had Penguin Patch at school and I accidentally put her brother's money in her envelope with hers and left his envelope empty. Amberlynn stuck to her marked budget and did not go over. She didn't see that she had more money and spend it! She was being very wise and conscientious in her spending! I'm so proud of how she made a great choice.

I had the pleasure of volunteering for Community Christmas gift pass out on Tuesday night. As an educator I often think about my "why", and I can tell you that the CISD Administration team that put this together made me remember another reason why I love this district. The teamwork, organization, and love that went into this program was so precious and heartwarming. Thank you Cooper Welch and the entire CISD Admin team for being such holiday advocates for our sweet Community families.
