Khadija Serour - Week 15 - November 17-21, 2025

Brave of the Week - Khadija Serour - November 17-21

Nomination from Harper Nalls, Edge MS:

So, I did not have any breakfast since my alarm went off 30 minuets late, so I did not have much time before the bus came. Khadija is in my first period, and when I told her that I did not get a chance to eat, so she gave me some of her Little Debbie's Zebra Cake. I'm really thankful, Khadija is a great person.

Don’t forget to nominate a Brave for next week’s honors! We reveal our winner on the Community ISD Facebook page and here on our website every Thursday at 8 a.m.

Which Trait was this person exhibiting?

Passionate

Why are you nominating this person?

Bella shows every single trait of a brave, but the one I’m selecting is passionate because she genuinely cares about her teachers and fellow students. She has Mrs. Priest for her homeroom class who just returned to teaching from maternity leave. Bella goes above and beyond to do anything she can to help around the classroom. This extends to helping her classmates as well. She is a friend to everyone, and knows how to turn a not so good day into a better one.

Why are you nominating this person?

Mr. Ross shares his passion of music with our students every day! He holds each kid that walks into his room accountable and they get to do so many amazing things. From the attention getters he uses to their experiences with instruments, he makes sure each student knows they have value. He also orchestrated a phenomenal performance that our 4th graders did with so many moving parts and he had the students really take ownership of each role that they had. His passion for music is clearly seen everyday and we are so lucky to have him as our music teacher!

Why are you nominating this person?

With all the new security changes taking place at CHS, I have to admit I was a little nervous when asked to volunteer as part of the security detail at the beginning of the day. I didn't know how the kids would react to their bags being searched and being wanded with the metal detectors.

I was PLEASENTLY surprised. The first student came in looking sleepy, which I totally get, and I said "Good morning, how are you?" I wasn't expecting a response because it's 8 am and she was a tired teenager. Instead, I got a "I'm good, how are you?" This caught me off guard. So I kept saying it, and kept getting responses. Each kid was polite, respectful, and some even smiled and joked with us.

These kids have had to endure a lot of change over the past few months and I don't know about other days, but when I was there, they were all showing every trait of a Brave. I am proud to say I work for the students at CHS! Their simple little responses and smiles made my morning!
