Brave of the Week honors go to three people this week - Mrs. Elizabeth McDorman, Mrs. Kendi Womack, and Mr. Brody Ross of Ellis Elementary! Check out the full nomination from the Ellis Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) below:
ELLIS ELEMENTARY PTO NOMINATION:
This week Mrs. McDorman, Mrs. Womack, and Mr. Ross went all in for showing just how passionate they are about making Ellis an amazing place! Two of them got slimed and one let the kids chase them around with silly string. They made this day so fun and truly care about connecting with students daily and bringing joy to our school. Ellis is lucky to have them!

We would like to recognize the Community High School Construction Management Carpentry Class and their teacher Mr. Colton Buckner and staff for their outstanding contribution to our community. When our Police Department needed barricades, this class willingly accepted the request and dedicated their time and skills to complete the project.
Their thoughtfulness, hard work, and craftsmanship not only provided our department with much-needed resources but also demonstrated their pride in their trade and commitment to serving others. Their efforts reflect a love for the art of carpentry and a genuine desire to make a difference.
We are deeply grateful for their dedication and for helping both our department and the district through this project.

The Trails Darlings are passionate, hardworking, and dedicated. They balance strong grades with countless hours learning and perfecting routines—even on weekends. On the field, they proudly represent Community Trails Middle School with spirit and excellence. Under the guidance of Ms. Hardaway, whose leadership inspires them daily, the Darlings continue to strive for greatness and set the standard for teamwork and pride.

Officer Jumper is such a gift to our school. He is a consistent presence each and every day. Our daughter’s favorite part of her mornings is rolling down her window to wave to Officer Jumper. She is always so excited when he waves and smiles back. She keeps count of how many days in a row she gets a wave and smile from him! As a parent, I appreciate seeing his face each day and being greeted and directed by him any time I even attempt to turn into the parking lot of our school. He does his job so well and with a humble, servant heart. Thank you Officer Jumper for all the big and little things you do each day!

During a surprise fire drill, Marcus became very aware that one of our friends who needs some extra assistance was falling behind. Marcus became fearful it wasn't a drill and he raced after him to make sure he was safe. This was noticed by myself and another teacher. We are so incredibly grateful for his generous heart and SO incredibly proud of him!

I just want to brag on Levin for being such an amazing big brother since his little sister arrived. He’s stepped up in the sweetest ways—keeping his other two sisters entertained while I’m feeding or changing the baby, taking them outside to play, or grabbing juice and snacks without me even asking. He’s so tender when the baby cries, rushing to help however he can. Anytime he knows I need something, he’s right there. He’s been the biggest helper, and I’m so grateful and incredibly proud of him.

When I mentioned needing supplies for a lab, Breanna immediately stepped up and asked exactly what was needed. She assured me she had it covered—and went above and beyond by offering to bring additional items to extend our learning beyond the activity itself. She provided enough supplies for every student, in every class period, ensuring that everyone could participate fully. Breanna truly showed that a Brave is someone who leads with generosity and a heart for others!

Coach Smith goes above and beyond for every student and athlete he works with. He makes sure that all athletes feel like a valued part of the team, no matter their skill level. He builds strong relationships with his students and shows them that he truly cares, which inspires them to give their very best in return.
Coach Smith ensures that every student is fed and taken care of before games, always putting their needs first. He arrives early, stays late, and consistently goes the extra mile for his team. His passion shines through in how he encourages students—not only celebrating their victories but also lifting them up after losses. He reminds them of their greatness and motivates them to reset and keep going.

While working in a small group at the teacher's table, another student started to get frustrated. Kaden jumped in and helped the student calm down by using the breathing exercise they had learned the previous week. He helped his friend overcome his frustration.
