Brave of the Week - September 15-19 - Alicia Young
Brave of the Week honors go to Alicia Young, an assistant principal at Community High School! See the full nominations from Mrs. Kristie Nix, a CHS parent, and Mr. Robert Goff, the CHS principal, below.
MRS. KRISTIE NIX'S NOMINATION:
I want to sincerely thank Alicia for her generosity and support in helping us plan this year’s Homecoming dance. Her time, effort, and guidance made such a difference in bringing all the details together, and we are so grateful for the way she pours into our students and school community.
We truly appreciate her commitment to making Homecoming a special and memorable night for everyone at CHS. Thank you for all you do to help our students shine, Alicia!
MR. ROBERT GOFF'S NOMINATION:
I would like to nominate Alicia Young for Brave of the Month. Mrs. Young dedicated countless hours to organizing and leading all of our Homecoming activities, including the parade, pep rally, and the Homecoming dance. Her hard work, attention to detail, and positive energy ensured that each event was a huge success and created lasting memories for our students and community. Mrs. Young’s passion for Community ISD shines through in everything she does—her commitment, creativity, and school spirit truly embody what it means to be a Brave.

I’m nominating Saylor Hill, because she just started kindergarten this year and she is so smart beyond her years. Her teacher is wonderful and all I hear is how sweet and smart she is! I’m so proud to be your mom Saylor!

Why are you nominating this person?
I would like to nominate Mr. Carl Frietze for being a wise servant leader. From the small amount of time that I have been around him, I have found him to be approachable, hardworking and very knowledgeable. Though as an "outsider" to his campus looking in, I have noticed him demonstrating all of the above traits. He is generous with his time (bounces from here to there every time I'm on campus), passionate about working with all kids/staff (ran with a SPED student down the hall to calm the student's nerves, humble with his attitude (has treated me with the utmost respect every time we have a interaction/conversation) and wise beyond his years. I see him as a valuable asset to Edge, the district, community and myself. Because of his leadership style and desire to help Edge be great, I now consider myself not only apart of Community ISD and the Transportation Department but also apart of Edge Middle School. Shout out to him being a cool, student centered approachable leader!

My 2nd grade daughter at the youth football games this weekend for HOCO picked up pieces of mums that had fallen off into the grass because it was the right thing to do. We are so proud of our Brave!

Mr. Newton is very passionate about his job and consistently goes above and beyond for his students. Ms. Reeves is passionate about supporting both students and parents at CTMS. She goes above and beyond each day, spreading positivity and encouragement to everyone she works with. Recently, she even stopped to check on me after witnessing an accident—just one example of her caring and selfless nature. She is dedicated to helping anyone in need, and her compassion and commitment make her a true asset to CTMS and the vision for this school year.

Mrs. Knight has gone above and beyond for my daughter. Mrs. Knight is my daughters HPRS professor at CHS and my daughter was out recently due to a need for a surgical procedure. Mrs. Knight invested time and energy not only to keep in touch with my daughter to see how she was doing, but to also ensure she did not fall behind in class while she was not in school. Mrs. Knight showed genuine care for my girl and is now being called, "the most understanding teacher." Mrs. Knight, thank you from the bottom of this mom's heart for your generosity.

Mrs. Leseberg brings her upbeat joy with her to work everyday. She is a bright ray of sunshine to our campus. The library is a place she makes inviting and exciting for students. She makes reading fun and innovative and in these day of technology books are so important, thank you for giving so much of your time to make reading fun for all students. Mrs Leseberg is passionate about making sure everyone has joy in their day .
