Edge Educators
Nomination from Mrs. Shannon McMahan, Associate Principal at Edge Middle School:
"A big thank you to Mrs. Dugan, Mrs. Hargrove, Mrs. Helms, Mrs. Little, Mrs. Manzanares, Mrs. Shannon, Mrs. Tucker, Mrs. Vasquez, and Mrs. Romo, our Sped administrator. When one of our teachers was out for a couple of weeks with a family emergency this team stepped up and filled in the gaps! Each one of these individuals volunteered to help by taking on additional task to make sure everything was taken care of so their team mate could focus on her family."
Don’t forget to nominate a Brave for next week's honors! We reveal our winner on the Community ISD Facebook page and here on our website every Thursday at 8 a.m.

Sun Shine

Nominator
Pamela Simmons
Which Trait was this person exhibiting?
Humble
Why are you nominating this person?
Sun Shine is spreading something special across our campus—kindness in its purest form. With a simple sign that asks, “Do you need a hug?”, he’s created a powerful way to lift others up. If the answer is yes, Sun Shine delivers the kind of hug that can truly turn someone’s day around—the “best part of your day” kind.
Those who receive a hug are invited to sign his sign, and thanks to that, we know he has already shared over 100 hugs with fellow Braves. Each one is a reminder of how far a small act of kindness can go.
Sun Shine is generous with his time and full of compassion. He is humble, never expecting anything in return, and deeply passionate about helping others. Most impressively, he shows wisdom beyond his years—understanding that sometimes, everyone just needs a hug.
We are so proud to have Sun Shine as part of the McClendon Elementary family!

Why are you nominating this person?
Mia is very generous and passionate about helping the school and being a community leader. Mia asked the music teacher if she could volunteer her own time to help the specials team with the kindergarten and Pre-K fine arts night show. She did a fantastic job being a helper to all the teachers and the students before and during the performance. Her self motivation for helping others makes her a great role model for all students around campus!

Why are you nominating this person?
Zane Way, Kash Way, and Jaxson Sarles showed their trait of being Passionate at the local pond. When a neighborhood kid wanted to be included in their fishing fun, these boys happily accepted him. While I was on a walk, I ran into the boy who was beaming to share that he caught 2 fish. Zane, Kash, and Jaxson’s inclusivity made another boy’s night extra special and made him proud.
