This week our Brave of the Week is … Madison Fernandez at Dodson Elementary! Mrs. Fernandez was nominated by Ashley Schusler, who said that “Mrs. Fernandez is absolutely crushing her first year of teaching. Her passion is evident in the preparation, communication, and execution within her classroom. She comes to school every day with a game plan and a smile on her face. Dodson Elementary and the families that belong to the Dodson community sure are blessed to have her on staff!”

The most generous and kind hearted person. Mr.Abel truly goes out of his way to make you feel included and important. He will individually acknowledge and greet you as you’re coming and going from sporting events and the kids just adore him. He is a hard worker and when he is around, you cannot help but smile. He interacts with the little kids giving constant high fives and just a gem!


He takes pride in his work and it’s evident he exhibits all the traits of a Brave!

Why are you nominating this person?

Mrs. Aguillon has put so much heart behind her teaching. Our son has grown tremendously in her class. As parents, you want to trust someone who cares for your child & the first year of school can be so hard but she has made our hearts & minds feel at such ease with our son. Coy loves her deeply & truly enjoys coming to school each day. Hearing what he’s learned at the end of the day has become something we look forward to. The staff at MES are exceptional but Mrs. A has taken the cake. We are blessed that our son’s first experience in school has been with her.

Three-time girls’ powerlifting state qualifier Lilly Clark, the embodiment of passion and perseverance, had to dig deep to pull a career-best deadlift. Fueled by determination, she secured her fourth trip to represent Community High School at the THSWPA State Championship in Edinburg, TX.

Mrs. Chase deserves a shoutout because she shows up every day and really cares about her students. She’s always kind, supportive, and makes class a great place to be. She goes out of her way to help us, and it never goes unnoticed! She makes learning easier and actually fun, even when things get tough. You can tell she really wants us to do well and believes in us. We’re lucky to have her!
