Braves of the Week - Girl Scouts of Troop 560 - February 23-27
Nomination from Mr. Cooper Welch, Community ISD Communications:
"Eight current Community ISD student and one former Brave, all members of Girl Scouts Troop 560, have chosen to create and donate Period Kits for all of the schools in Brave Nation!
These current fifth graders will all be sixth graders entering CISD middle schools (either Edge or Community Trails) next year. They chose to make this donation as part of a 20-hour service and leadership project that will help them earn a "Bronze Award" with the Girl Scouts - one of the highest honors of scouting.
This project is being entirely designed and led by the Troop members as a meaningful community initiative focused on service, leadership, and kindness. The girls have demonstrated strong leadership by creating a short donation-request video, designing donation boxes and posters, requesting donations, and writing encouraging notes as part of their Scribe badge work. These notes will be included in each kit to help inspire kindness and offer words of encouragement to the students who receive them."

Why are you nominating this person?
I would like to nominate the Multilingual Department- specifically Megan Frankenberg, Erica Ramos, and Haylu Tantalean. The window opened for Telpas testing, and CHS began immediately. These have been on our campus lending a helping hand each day of testing. They help set up, they get kids where they need to be, and they volunteer as test administrators.
Because of the generosity of their time, our teachers were able to remain in their classroom and continue with their scheduled instruction and our number of testing days was drastically reduced. We are extremely grateful for all of them - everyday.

Why are you nominating this person?
I would like to proudly nominate our incredible Custodial Staff for Brave of the Week.
Every single day, our custodians go above and beyond to ensure our building is clean, safe, and welcoming for students, staff, and families. Their work often happens behind the scenes, but its impact is felt by everyone who walks through our doors. From responding quickly to unexpected messes to maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the campus, they consistently demonstrate dedication, pride, and professionalism.
What truly makes them “Brave” is their unwavering commitment and positive attitude. No task is too big or too small, and they approach each responsibility with care and teamwork. They step up without hesitation, support school events, and help create an environment where learning can thrive.
Our custodial team exemplifies reliability, hard work, and school spirit. We are grateful for all they do, and they are more than deserving of being recognized as Brave of the Week.

Why are you nominating this person?
This week, I am proud to nominate one of our incredible NeSmith parents for BRAVE of the Week because she truly embodies what it means to be involved.
She does not simply attend events. She invests her time, creativity, and heart into making our campus better for every child. From designing and preparing all of the decorations for our Daddy Daughter Dance to ensuring every detail felt magical, she worked behind the scenes so that each little girl would have an unforgettable experience. That level of intentionality speaks volumes. She doesn’t stop there. She regularly comes to campus to create posters, drop off handcrafted desserts, and support teachers as a dedicated room mom. She gives her talents generously and consistently, always asking how she can help rather than waiting to be asked.
We are incredibly fortunate to have her and the many PTO moms who quietly make a difference each day. Their partnership strengthens our campus community.

Why are you nominating this person?
Sarah witnessed another student being made fun of on the playground. She bravely made the choice to take up for that student (who she really did not know) and let her teachers know of the incident. It took a lot of courage to speak out and do the right thing amongst her peers. This situation was able to be handled appropriately by the teachers because of her wise and compassionate actions. We need more humans like Sarah!
