The Brave of the Week - January 13-17 - Humberto Garcia Ferrer
This week our Brave of the Week is … Humberto Garcia Ferrer from McClendon Elementary! Dr. Knowlton nominated Mr. Ferrer when she saw him live out all of the Traits of the a Brave during a lunch meeting with him and other McClendon students.
Humberto was wise in his answers to questions, humble by waiting his turn and not talking over others, passionate about his friends and teachers, and generous by staying after all the other students left to help clean up trash and leave the room the way he found it. Thank you so much Humberto for being such a great Brave, and thank you to Dr. Knowlton for the nomination!

Why are you nominating this person?
I am nominating Mrs. Kaufman because she not only exhibits ALL the traits of a Brave, but she goes out of her way to do as much as possible for the teachers, students, and for the academic growth seen at Edge Middle School this year. She helps students to complete testing, helps the teachers with purposeful planning and implementing in our classes, trains us in using iReady correctly while implementing a school-wide iReady Challenge, gives incredibly useful UIL campus coordinator advice, and so much more. I know that if we didn't have Mrs. Kaufman here at Edge, we would certainly be at a loss because she has dedicated her days above and beyond to being generous with serving all here in Community ISD.

Mrs. Sherry just makes our lives more special! She is always adding a bit of sparkle everywhere she goes and truly makes the lives of those around her more enjoyable and easier. She is generous with her time, her support, and is willing to do whatever is best for those around her. We appreciate her so much.

Seeing a fellow Spanish speaking classmate struggle with classwork and exams, Kevin stepped up and reached out to Mrs. Sorrels asking for help for his classmate. Mrs. Sorrels jumped into action and got the ball rolling on getting the student the help and support he needed to be successful. A big shoutout to Kevin for showing the trait of generous by getting involved and helping others!
