Dr. Ryan Named TASSP Finalist

AUSTIN, TX. - Community ISD is proud to announce that Dr. Charles Ryan, Principal of Community High School, has advanced to the Finalist round of the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) High School Principal of the Year award.

Ryan was previously named as the 2023-24 TASSP Region 10 High School Principal of the Year on July 31, just one of 20 individuals across the State of Texas to earn that recognition. He now will interview with the other TASSP finalists in Austin on Friday, December 1, for the 2023-24 TASSP High School Principal of the Year award.

“We are so proud of Dr. Ryan and his continued achievements,” said Dr. Tonya Knowlton, Superintendent of Community ISD. “He is an asset to our District and the high school campus. Congratulations to Dr. Ryan and his family.”

To qualify for his previous regional recognition, Mr. Ryan and other nominees from the 80 public school districts and 35 public charter districts in Region 10 were evaluated on a 1 (lowest) to 4 (highest) scale across six categories, which included the following:

  1. Culture - Wellness
  2. Culture - Equity
  3. Culture - Student-centeredness
  4. Learning - Results-orientation
  5. Learning - Collaborative Leadership
  6. Learning - Innovation

School administrators are nominated and chosen by their peers within their regions. Nominations are based upon exemplary performance and outstanding leadership.

The District will continue to update this story as it progresses.
