Four Campuses Named CKH National Showcase Schools

NEVADA, Texas - Four campuses in Community Independent School District have been recognized as Capturing Kids' Hearts National Showcase Schools®. Dodson Elementary, McClendon Elementary, and Roderick Elementary all repeated as National Showcase Schools in 2025-26, and Ellis Elementary brought home the honor for the first time, as announced by Capturing Kids' Hearts® in April 2026.

The Capturing Kids' Hearts (CKH) National Showcase Schools® District Award acknowledges the exceptional implementation of the Capturing Kids’ Hearts® Process by the staff at the Dodson, McClendon, and Roderick campuses, demonstrating a dedication to ensuring students and educators feel safe, connected, and valued within the district. For the 2025-26 school year, the Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools® Award was granted to just 970 schools across the United States.

In addition to these four campuses earning National Showcase status, Community Trails Middle School was named one of just 166 Rising Star campuses nationwide. A Rising Star campus is a school recognized for fully implementing CKH processes to foster a positive, relationship-driven culture. This designation, often a precursor to the National Showcase School award, is based on staff/family surveys and site visits assessing improved school culture, student-teacher trust, and SEL.
