Braves Hire Head Basketball Coach
Nathan Kirbie has been hired as the Community High School boys basketball head coach, as announced by Community ISD on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
Mr. Kirbie comes to Brave Nation from Crandall High School, where he was an assistant varsity coach of the Pirates' boys basketball team for the last three years. As a Pirate, Kirbie controlled the offense for varsity, hosted and organized JV and freshmen tournaments, and ran college recruiting for players, including collecting highlights and contacting coaching staffs. The Pirates were Bi-District champions in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons, and secured their first ever playoff victory as a 5A program in that time. During the 2024 playoff run, Kirbie organized practices and the scout team, helping the team reach the Regional Quarterfinals.
Prior to Crandall, Kirbie was an assistant at Mabank High School, where he was an assistant coach for varsity and coached the JV team from 2017 to 2021. The Panthers had three consecutive bi-district championships during Kirbie's time there.
Kirbie began his coaching career as a student assistant and then graduate assistant at Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from 2014 through April 2017. In his time there, MCU won its first Sooner Athletic Conference Championship in program history, and captured its first NAIA National Championship. He graduated from MCU with a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Social Studies Education in December 2016.
