Adam Arteaga Named Head Football Coach
NEVADA, Texas - Community Independent School District is proud to announce that Adam Arteaga has been named the head football coach of Community High School. Arteaga will be the 24th head coach of the Braves. He was hired on Wednesday following a statewide search that featured over 100 candidates.
“Coach Arteaga comes to Brave Nation widely recommended by several of the athletic leaders in the State of Texas, including former Allen High School head coach Terry Gambill and former Frisco ISD Athletic Director David Kuykendall,” Community ISD Superintendent Dr. Tonya Knowlton said. “I am excited to welcome Coach Arteaga and his family to Brave Nation, and look forward to what the future holds for our football program.”
A 14-year coaching and education veteran, Arteaga arrives at Community from Pieper High School in Comal ISD, where he served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the last three seasons. While at Pieper, Arteaga and the Warriors were two-time district champions, went to the 5A Division II quarterfinals in 2023, and reached the 5A Division I area finals in 2024. Opened as a 9th and 10th grade center in 2021, the school has a 23-3 record since varsity football began in 2022. The Warriors averaged 51 points per game with 3,895 passing yards and 1,878 rushing yards in 2024. Arteaga also served as the Warriors' head track & field coach and strength coordinator.
Before Pieper High School, Arteaga was the lead wide receivers coach and assistant soccer coach at Cedar Park High School. The Timberwolves football program finished as a 5A Division I state finalist in 2020, was a 2019 regional semifinalist, and a 2018 area finalist.
Before going to Cedar Park High School, Arteaga served Allen High School for one season, working with quarterbacks as part of the football staff and as an assistant wrestling coach. In his lone season with the Eagles, they won the 2017 6A Division I state championship in football and Class 6A state title in wrestling.
Arteaga came to Allen HS from Leander, where he served for three seasons (2014-16) as wide receivers coach and strength coordinator. During each of his three seasons with the Lions, his receivers accumulated over 2,000 yards.
He began his teaching and coaching career at Wiley Middle School in Leander, and served as an offensive line and linebackers coach while also serving as the Hudl coordinator.
“I’m thrilled to have a fantastic coach and an even better person joining the Brave Nation family today,” Director of Athletics Paul R. Sharr said. “Coach Arteaga has had success at every level and in every coaching position, and we look forward to what he’ll bring to Community moving forward.”
Arteaga and his wife Jessica have five children. Arteaga earned a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science from Texas State University in 2011, and a Master of Sports Management from Texas A&M University in 2014.
