Scholarship Opportunities
The Caleb J. Edwards Golden Wrench Award
Caleb J. Edwards was a class of 2021 Community High School graduate. He was a member of FCCLA and the Automotive Program. He planned to continue working in the automotive field and using his leadership skills he gained from FCCLA to start his own business. On May 11, 2022, at the age of 19, he was killed in a car accident. His love for the Automotive program at CHS led to his family creating The Caleb J. Edwards Golden Wrench Award. One $500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduate in the Automotive program.
The Caleb J. Edwards Memorial Scholarship

Community HS Athletic Booster Scholarships
Applicants must be a CHS Senior Varsity Athlete. Six scholarships will be awarded as follows: Two (2) $1,500 for Most Accomplished Outstanding Athletes: one male and one female, and four (4) Brave Memorial scholarships for $500 each.
Community HS Band Boosters Scholarships
Applicants must be active members of the CHS Braves Band. Three scholarships will be awarded as follows: one Sue Hannon Scholarship (Music Major), one Mighty Braves Band Scholarship based on music accomplishments and and one Traits of a Brave Band Scholarship based on character.
Once a Brave, Always a Brave - Community Education Foundation Scholarship
Applicants must attend Community High School for four years (9-12 grades) and demonstrate at least one Traits of a Brave that is recommended by a CHS teacher. Four (4) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.
Independent Bank Financial Scholarship
This scholarship, made possible by the generous support of Independent Bank Financial – Lavon, is available for a graduating CHS Senior. Applicants must share an obstacle or challenge due to a specific family circumstance that makes college or trade school cost prohibitive. One $1,000 will be awarded.
Justin Wright Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship, made possible by the generous support of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Bounds, is available for a graduating CHS Senior. Applicants must share an obstacle or challenge they faced in HS or are facing with attending college or technical school. One senior student will receive a $2,000 scholarship.
The Ziad Scholarship
This scholarship is made possible by the generous support of Mr. & Mrs. Luis A. Navas. Applicants must be a first-generation college student of Hispanic ethnicity and share their goals to attend college. One $700 scholarship will be awarded.
