Mr. Boyce

Roderick Boyce is currently the Director of Bands at Community ISD. He was previously the associate director at Stone Middle School, as well as the percussion coordinator director at Stone/North Lamar ISD and associate director at the High School. Roderick received his Bachelors in Music Education at Southern Arkansas University.

Mr. Boyce also team teaches with Mr. Sumner and Ms. Martinez as well as teach percussion at Edge Middle School.

His philosophy is to give an enjoyable and productive experience to students which would hopefully result for them to further succeed in music as well as in life.

Mr. Sumner

Mr. Sumner is in his 8th year of education and his 5th year as the Associate Director of Bands for Community ISD.

Originally from Needville, TX (45 miles southwest of Houston), Sumner attended Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, AR studying Trumpet under Dr. Craig V. Hamilton. After graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music Education in 2012, Sumner taught for 2 more years in Arkansas; first in El Dorado, AR and then Bentonville, AR. During the 2014-2015 school year, Sumner moved from Arkansas back to Texas and taught at Marlin ISD in Marlin, TX before making his way to Community ISD.

Mr. Sumner currently facilitates all aspects of the band program at Edge Middle School with Ms. Martinez, and working with Mr. Rod Boyce at Community High School.

Ms. Martinez

Lupita Martinez is the Associate Director of Bands for Community ISD where she is serving as a first year teacher.

Originally from Mesquite, Texas, Ms. Martinez attended the University of North Texas where she studied Flute under Dr. Mary Karen Clardy. During her time at UNT, she participated in many ensembles including the UNT Concert Band and UNT Mariachi Aguilas. In 2017 Ms. Martinez had the opportunity to be a part of DCI serving as a drum major for the Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps. In her free time she loves spending time with her family and dogs, playing video games, and cooking. 

Her duties at Community ISD include facilitating all aspects of the band program at Edge Middle School with Mr. Sumner, and working with Mr. Rod Boyce at Community High School.

Mrs. Marosek

Suzanne Marosek is the director & coordinator of the ColorGuard and WinterGuard at Community, both of which she established at the high school. She is the librarian for Edge Middle School as well as the district testing coordinator.  She works to inspire students and staff to become Lifelong Learners.  Prior to obtaining a masters degree in Library Information Science, Mrs. Marosek taught Texas History and American History at the middle school.  

Mrs. Marosek received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Northern University where she was a member of the colorguard. She received her Masters of Library Science from Texas A & M University Commerce. Mrs. Marosek has been married to her husband, who is the high school art teacher at Farmersville HS, for 28 years.  Two of their daughters are alumni of the Braves Band and Community High School. The youngest daughter is currently a member of the Braves Band and a student at Community High School.

Mr. Fitzwater

This is Jordan Fitzwater's fourth year to work with students at Community. In those four years he has worked specifically with the Community High School Band as the percussion director. Mr. Fitzwater helped start the Indoor Percussion Ensemble in 2016 and has been suprised to see the talent that the students have and are growing into. 

Mr. Fitzwater is a Community High School graduate. He is a graduate from Liberty University with a Bachelors in Music and Worship, specializing in the field of technology. He currently teaches Audio Video Production 1 and 2, Graphic Deesign, Printing and Imaging, Yearbook.
