On Monday, January 23, 2017 the Learning Services team kicked off a fun and exciting book study with a group of Brave Nation teachers based on the book "The End of Molasses Classes" by Ron Clark. Participants in the book study will have an opportunity to win a trip to the Ron Clark Academy Teacher Training program in Atlanta.
The cafeteria at McClendon Elementary was transformed into a Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory wonderland for the first book study meeting demonstrating how teachers can create a learning environment that is fun and engaging. In his book, "No More Molasses Classes", New York Times bestselling author and educator Ron Clark challenges parents, teachers, and communities everywhere embrace a difference in the classroom and uplift, educate, and empower our children.
Teachers will read the book and create engaging strategies and new ideas for their own classrooms which will be documented as part of a final project at the completion of the study. The Learning Services team will be selecting at least one of the book study participants to attend educator training held at the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta later this year.
