Community I.S.D. Education Foundation

What is it?

The Commuity I.S.D. Education Foundation is a charitable organization. It has 501(c)3 status. It will be run outside of the school district as a way to provide additional money to our campuses and students for educational purposes.

Is this state money?
No, that is the beauty of an educational foundation. It is not State funds and it is not School District funds. It is an organization that stands on its own. This is locally raised money by donations.

What is the money used for?
The goal of the foundation is to grow the principal and spend a portion of the interest. The campuses will be able to apply to the Education Foundation for funding for specific programs, above what they normally have to offer. It won't be used for building costs or extra curricular activities.
                            EXAMPLE
The elementary wants to do a weather program and buy $2,000 worth of equipment to measure wind speeds, rain percentages, barometric pressure, and humidity. This would be used in classroom lessons for years to come. Another idea might be that the Foundation will sponsor one or more scholarships for graduating seniors going to college.

Is this tax deductible?
Yes, since this is an official 501(c)3, it is a charitable organization and can accept donations of all sizes and give the appropriate receipts that can be used as a tax deduction.

How can we contribute?
Starting September 1st we will have the bank account set up. At that point the Education Foundation will be able to take donations and give the proper receipts. We will also start a brick drive, where individuals can purchase bricks that will be engraved and placed at the High School stadium as a walkway. They will be there permanently on display at that facility. It's a great way to make a memory or honor someone. The 4"x8" bricks will sell for $50.00 each. Larger bricks are available at a greater cost.
