Please read this important message on school safety from Dr. Nivens:
I want to share with you that yesterday afternoon one of our teachers at Community High School became concerned when she noticed suspicious behavior and overheard inappropriate dialogue coming from one of her students. While no students were ever in danger, it is important for me to share that any threat, verbal or otherwise, to the safety and security of our buildings, will be taken seriously and dealt with quickly.
Because of the alertness of our teacher and the quick action of our CHS administrators and Collin County Sheriff Deputy, we have resolved this particular incident and I want to reassure our students, parents and staff that we are diligent when it comes to the safety of our campuses.
Our most precious commodity, our children, sit in the classrooms of Community ISD everyday. It is my duty as a father and as Superintendent of this District to make sure we provide a safe and secure learning environment for all our children everyday.
I am so proud of our staff for being alert and quick thinking in this situation. I would like to ask all parents to remind their children that if they ever see or hear something that concerns them, they should say something to a teacher or administrator. We also have an anonymous tip form located on each of the District and campus home pages where any suspicious activity can be reported.
Thank you for partnering with us to ensure that our Braves have a safe and caring learning environment.
