Mrs. Leah Stanton

Hello, I'm Leah Stanton and I am so excited to be at Community ISD for the 2017-2018 school year. I teach 8th grade U.S. History and advanced U.S. History. I previously taught U.S. and World History in Frisco ISD. I want my students to know that we will have fun learning history and that we can make it relevant to their lives today. This year we will identify the major eras and events in U.S. history through 1877, including colonization, revolution, drafting of the Declaration of Independence, creation and ratification of the Constitution, religious revivals such as the Second Great Awakening, early republic, the Age of Jackson, westward expansion, reform movements, sectionalism, Civil War, and Reconstruction, and describe their causes and effects.

My husband and I live in Plano with our two dogs. Outside of school, I enjoy spending my time with my husband, family, and friends. I have two sons in their late twenties and two beautiful grandchildren (Vicktoria -3 and William -3 months). I also love to read and travel. Additionally, my husband and I volunteer at the military history museum here in Nevada; I work on archival, curation, and act as a docent.

Communication with my student's parents is very important and vital. Please feel free to contact me if you have any qustions. The best way to reach me is by email (leah.stanton@communityisd.org). I return emails during my conference period 10:28-11:12 AM, after school, and in the evening. You may also reach me via phone at (972) 843-8411

I look forward to a great year of fun-filled learning, memories, and success at EMS! GO BRAVES!!
